Lasallian Voices in Action (2010-2013)
When I transferred schools from UP Diliman to Lasalle Lipa, I figured I should find a good organization where one of my friends was also part of. Back then, I already had experience in being a layout artist (Highschool Tarpaulins and My batch's yearbook). For a good 6 years I've been writing stories online and offline. So I decided to check out LAVOXA. I thought I should try getting in this "elite" group of people who only have like a 40 something staff out of the 9000 college students of which about 300 apply every year and only a few are picked.
I passed and I also passed the initiation rites. It was my new family and it is where my skills as a layout artist flourished. Back then I thought I was already good, but seeing the other sparkly people around me made me try harder. Sometimes we worked until 9pm in the night or did overnights in different houses just to finish issues. We got paid a meager amount of money but we weren't in it for the money, we were in it for the experience. LAVOXA is a multi-award winning college publication group which constantly maintains a record of being the top performing group nationwide. Enter our publication office and you will see rows and rows of trophies and features. I only have a few files left so you'll see a few of them here but I worked in all publications: the English Tabloid (LAVOXA), the tagalog newsletter (Umalohokan), the Magzine (LMag), and the literary portfolio (Utak Berde) as the head layout artist, writer, and graphic designer. |
